Why play? Why keep at it?

Let's think about all the guitar players who are famous for their songs more than their jamming. But let's not leave it there. Let's think about the things you accomplish by playing guitar that have nothing to do with being famous but have value in our lives and others. Sometimes tremendous value. How about the social grease aspect? Bringing people together, both you as a player with others and the togetherness amongst the people you play for. Think about the moments you've had with music, and not just with famous musicians. The songs are great, but how about all the playing that's done by people who aren't famous, live and in the same room or on the same beach with the listeners. There are magic moments that happen that way. Connections are made. I know now that people can remember those moments for 20 years and more. What a thing to be able to do.
