Classics: The Beatles' Blackbird

Here is Paul McCartney himself playing one of the most requested fingerpicking songs of all time, Blackbird.  Note that he plays left handed.  Also note his chord voicings and his picking hand.   Lots to learn, not all of which is done by every player learning this song.

Watch how the angles change when he stands up in the next video.  By angles I mean the right and left hand angles relative to the guitar and to the plane of the strings.  Notice his posture when he sits and when he stands and notice the height of the guitar as well.  Shoulders, folks!  Notice how even his are, sitting or standing.  As you study this song and this thumb and one picking style consider all of these things.  Also, have fun!  This is a beautiful song, one that I have never gotten tired of teaching.  This "thumb and one" approach is also used by Paul on 'Yesterday' which may still be the most covered song of all time.
